Long version: First pistol was an XDM in .40 S&W. It was great and I was able to shoot it pretty accurately. I liked the feel of the trigger but it was just too big for me to carry. I also didn't/don't like carrying striker fired pistols. I know they have a lot of safety's built into them, but I just don't feel safe carrying it in the same way I don't like the idea of carrying a hammer 'cocked and locked'.
So anyways, I sold the Springfield and bought an HK P30 v2 ('heavy' LEM). I really like a lot of things about the firearm but I just can't seem to shoot well with it. After shooting quite a bit, it seems like it just comes down to how the trigger breaks and the 'heavy' (~7+ pounds) pull. I can never seem to steadily and gently apply pressure like I could with the XDM. Now I know I can modify the gun but, because of the hyper litigious society we live in, I really don't want to do that.
After looking around a bit, I'm thinking of changing to a SIG P229 in .357 SIG. My brother in law has a 228 that I like, I like the solid frame, I like that it's hammer fired, I like that it has a decocker, and I like that it has full length frame rails. While I'm changing though, I also thought about switching to .357 SIG instead of .40 S&W because of all the great things I've read about it.
This will solely be a carry weapon.
Short version: Had an XDM 40. Shot it great. Too big and dont like strikers.
Bought a P30 40. Feels great but I cant seem to master the LEM trigger.
Looking at a SIG P229 357.
Thoughts?
