I've had one since the early '70's for home defense. Shot a few rounds back then to make sure it works and none since. A couple weeks ago I did some research about it and was surprised to learn most rate the trigger as horrible with a long travel and a 16# pull. Only of interest to H&K collectors. Time to hit the range. I called my friend, a fellow VN vet, gun enthusiast and full time concealed carry guy. Today was the day. First we fired off a few with his 50 cal black powder rifle. Then his 10/22 and AK-47. Finally, the VP70. His opinion was it felt good in the hand, was very accurate, but the trigger would take some practice. My opinion, pretty much the same. It is a long pull, but hard to believe the 16#. Maybe 8#? I tried rapid fire and found the trigger stays back for a short pull after the first round, not much kick and easy to hold on target. Easy to clean. I was about ready to sell it and get something newer. I think I'll just keep it. It suits me fine!
