Landed a VP9

I've never been an early adopter. There aren't many companies for which I'd make an exception. But H&K is one of them...

Initial impressions - one reason I've never owned a striker-fired pistol until now is the triggers. But this is the best of the breed. It's almost got a two-stage feel to it, a short takeup and then a pretty crisp break. It's not a 1911 and never will be, but it's miles ahead of a Glock or M&P and I think it's better than the PPQ, too.

The grip is straight from the P30, which is a good thing. Mine came with the medium backstrap and grip panels installed; I'm going to try some different combinations with the larger pieces, because I have pretty good-sized paws, but I think almost anyone should be able to find a combination that works for them.

I really like the charging supports. I've never much cared for aggressive slide serrations, so I think the supports are a brilliant alternative. Because of the slide profile, they don't add to the overall width of the gun. They're less intrusive than the safety lever on a USP or P30S. A really nice touch.

I'm looking forward to going to the range. I really think H&K has a winner here.
