I have had a "wanted to buy ad" posted for over eight months. Yesterday, someone finally replied that they had what I was looking for. Before I even had a chance to respond to the posting, someone else had jumped in and offered to buy them. I know, some may say "first come first served", but the lister was replying to MY ad. He says he thought the other person WAS me, until after he had worked out a deal. I find this to be underhanded. I would think this "other person" should have contacted the poster and said that IF I wasn't interested, he was. After all, it WAS my ad.
More etiquette: I have always tried to treat everyone as I would like to be treated, and have especially done so with members on this forum. I love the help and advice that everyone gives, and I love helping other members here too. The mutual support is wonderful. it seems members used to take care of each other. Lately, however, items that i have purchased from other members are showing up broken or incorrectly advertised, and out of four problem transactions, only one member was forthright enough to make it right (thanks Ben). I even had a member say "tough", and another member would not return e-mails or PM's about an obviously cracked magazine. I informed him that I had to get rid of it at a loss, and still no reply. Remember, this is NOT the place to get rid of your junk or broken parts, UNLESS you advertise them as such. If you HAVE to pawn off your problem items on others, maybe you should do so to strangers, not your "HK Family" on THIS forum.
OK, I guess I'm done griping. Thanks everyone else for making this a truly fun and informative forum, and I'll try to ignore/forgive the few bad apples.
