Been tinkering with the idea of shooting cast bullets thru my PTR91. I have shot ~120 grain bullets through it and while they did eject, the ejection didn't seem as positive as with standard 308 ammo, so I sort of stopped experimenting with that combination.
I figure a 180 grain powder coated spitzer with a gas check would work well in the rifle, perhaps with a moderate charge of 4895 or the like, and wondered if my experiments might ought to look towards a different locking piece, one that might open more easily.
If any of you knows, would you please give me a primer on locking pieces (that wedge shaped part inside the bolt that engages the rollers)? I may not need to mess with them, but if the experiments lead that way, it would be nice to have some idea which direction to go.
Thanks in advance.
