I've run across a stripped slide for the VP70Z. It is missing everything but the extractor and its attendant parts. It is also missing both rear and front sights. This appeals to me because I'd really like to do something about the sights on mine and this would give me a platform on which to experiment without messing up my original. I have several questions:
1. I can also get the the Rear cap, cylindrical pin, firing pin spring, bushing and recoil spring guide. Doing so would roughly double the price and I'd still need a firing pin and firing pin recoil spring. Provided those two other parts are available this would allow me to try out my new Wolff spring as well. So how likely am I to find a firing pin and firing pin recoil spring?
2. Has anyone ever profaned their VP70Z and experimented with alternate sights?
3. Would anyone care to hazard what one should offer for a stripped slide? Or a slide with the above listed parts?
Thanks in advance. I've pretty much decided to get the slide. I'm dithering over the rest of the available parts. If a firing pin is the Holy Grail there's no real point in buying the rest, or is there?
