Being kind of new to the AR platform, I did a search for some cleaning procedures specifically for the MR556. Having found really nothing, I was wondering what are some of the key things you guys do when cleaning/maintaining?
The bolt grouped looked completely clean already, but I still took it apart, cleaned it and lubed it afterwards.
Took the piston apart and really just focused on cleaning the little piston piece with a brass brush. After some scrubbing, it didn't seem like I was going to get all the residue off, so I just used some cleaners on that and wiped it dry before reinserting it into the gun.
The rest of the piston assembly I really just simply used some cleaner and wiped it down because it really didn't look like it got dirty either. Lubed the spring area before reinsertion.
Used boresnake for the barrel. Wiped down a bit of the inside of the upper, and that's about it.
Anything major that I missed? I am correct in assuming I shouldn't put any lube or liquid on the shiny piston piece, right?
